Right-wing pundit and former Breitbart editor Ben Shapiro can’t stand the idea that folks in Georgia are sticking up for voting rights, and he came up with an arguably less-than-thunderous way of showing it.
On Tuesday a major coalition of Black faith leaders in the state, representing over 1,000 churches, called for a boycott of Home Depot, claiming the Georgia-based company had failed to be a good corporate citizen by not opposing the state’s new voting law.
“We don’t believe this is simply a political matter,” Bishop Jackson, who led the call, said in an interview. “This is a matter that deals with securing the future of this democracy, and the greatest right in this democracy is the right to vote.”

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Home Depot, Mr. Jackson said, “demonstrated an indifference, a lack of response to the call, not only from clergy, but a call from other groups to speak out in opposition to this legislation.”
Home Depot is one of the state’s largest employers. Other Georgia-based corporations like Coca-Cola and Delta have strongly opposed the state’s new law, while Home Depot opted to largely avoid the topic.
While it’s been reported that one of the company’s founders, Arthur Blank, said privately to other business execs that he supported voting rights, another founder, Ken Langone, remains a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump.

But back to Shapiro, who single-handedly saved Home Depot from a potential boycott when he purchased…a single piece of wood…which he then had the cashier put in a plastic bag.
He uploaded a video of the experience to his Instagram story, and the response has basically been one big LOL.
Here’s what folks are saying:

Let this be a warning to all companies planning on going "woke" – if you do it? Ben Shapiro won't go to your store and buy one wood. So choose carefully

Well remember, at first Coke and Delta tried the typical corporation game of not really saying anything, and making a soft comment. They were hit with backlash and boycott threats and finally got on board.
Glad they’re here, but let’s not rewrite history. Coke and Delta could have come out before the vote.

Maybe it is because he’s holding things in a certain way, but if I were he, I wouldn’t wear that t-shirt again. Somehow the cut is not flattering.
Cato
The bag of wood will be joining the box of rocks he has for brains.
Vince
Weren’t they boycotting Home Depot not that long ago over some BS. Like all of their boycotts it didn’t make a dent.
These Georgia laws are about restricting certain people from voting and Home Depot should get out there opposing it.
Heywood Jablowme
I know what you’re referring to. Bernard Marcus, a co-founder of Home Depot, was a big Tr*mp donor. But he hasn’t been involved with HD for twenty years. A boycott of HD regarding Marcus was misguided, and couldn’t possibly be effective, since of course HD has no control over the donations of someone who doesn’t even work for them.
The new boycott is totally justified, and may have an effect!
Cam
@Heywood Jablowme
The right wing troll account always lies to defend LGBTQ bigots.
The boycott is not misguided since Marcus founded the company and in a 2019 interview said that the majority of his billions in net worth was in Home Depot stock. So he not only gets all of his money from the stock, but owning that much means he absolutely has influence of the company.
But nice try.
Heywood Jablowme
Translation: Cam doesn’t care if a boycott actually works or not.
Home Depot’s other co-founder, Arthur Blank, has donated millions to Democratic candidates over the years.
I’m totally in favor of the current boycott over the Georgia voting law!
tjack47
It’s the only way he can get wood.
KyleMichelSullivan
Ben really needs to find himself a good leather daddy and come out of the closet. He’d be a lot happier and we might even be better off (no guarantees, tho’; I can see him becoming a “log” cabin Rethuglican).
Mister P
I never thought about Ben Shapiro’s wood before. Hopefully this is the last time too.
Heywood Jablowme
I worked part-time 2nd jobs in retail for many years and it’s easy to imagine what kind of customer this guy is. A demanding, obnoxious brat ordering the peons around. Gets a cellphone call and expects the salesperson to just wait there til he’s done with his call, however long it takes. Keeps yakking on the phone while in the cashier line. And NO MASK, of course! – probably coughed in the cashier’s face just to make a point.
rural queer socialist
Speaking of disrespectful BASTARDS and BITCHES and SLIMES …
WHEN will you elite city snots STOP shipping your SHIT into poor and working class RURAL counties with big enough landfills to take you SHIT! Stanks, dirty, rotting, nasty, disgusting, diseased, toxic, polluting SHIT … mountains of it! SUPER HUGE MOUNTAINS of it over the decades!
When will you ELITE CITY SNOTS take back all those mountains of SHIT into your city limits!? And keep all your FUTURE SHIT in city limits too?
WHEN?!
Heywood Jablowme
@rural queer socialist: That’s an interesting, albeit totally off-topic question. I researched it for about two minutes and here’s what you should do: Complain to your local or county officials who approved the landfill and the various contracts!
Davidflys
@ real queer socialist, the answer to your question is: when the people in these areas wake up and stop voting for the Republicans that are allowing it to happen. When people in these rural communities realize there’s more to their vote than abortion, guns, and religion.
Cam
@rural queer socialist
You switched over to this screename to derail your own post? May have worked a few years ago, but you’ve already exposed your trolling, so nice try.
Heywood Jablowme
@Cam: “rural queer socialist” is YOU. Come on, admit it. You are the one with the motive and the obsession.
BoomerMyles
When is he leaving for Tennessee known for being a bastion of safety and support for Orthodox Jews? (not)
whateverokok
You may think it’s funny to disparage and demean a whole state just because you think they’re backwoods and all, however, as it does is leave you with egg on your face. Cause Tennessee could not be any further from what you stated. It’s funny the attacks southerners get, when they are the ones who friendly and courteous to people.Unlike northerners and caliwierdos.
Hdtex
@whateverokok
Sure thing Cletus.
Cam
Courteous?
Ohhhh right, that’s the thing southerners claim they are when they vote to keep Black people from voting and to keep LGBTQ civil rights illegal.
But one funny thing, a lot of your troll screenames must have gotten screened by Queerty if you’ve brought out this old dinosaur of a name.
mailliw110
Maybe you should get out of your trailer park more often?
radiooutmike
Sure. Go ahead, equate good manners and social etiquette with actual social change.
Poor you. Yankees are gruff and standoffish. Those blue-state bastards. How are they vote for the shit that would improve your life directly.
Nahh. You’d rather be glad-handed by Republicans who believe in god, guns and no abortions. Funny that they can own guns and yet not be Christ-like. They also can get abortions for their mistresses easily.
Willy
Thank you!
Young Timer
“I’ll have one wood.”
Hey Ben Shapiro…
Are you sure it’s not “I’ll have one woodie?”
barryaksarben
He is a pos. And those bitch tits of his are very unattractive
sillyme
Well he had to buy a Wood somewhere and just so that he has proof that he will have a morning wood at some point in his pathetic life and I hope he’s not trying to impress any of us with it.
Winsocki
Ok I heard of Home Depot founder who was a Trumpy…. boycott Home Depot? Let’s check reality. I live in a conservative suburb of Metro Detroit… it tilts GOP….( but never voted for Trump ). So I had heard about the Home Depot is bad ( like Chik Filet never had one sounds bland) Well this Home Depot had employess I thought were transgender because I could not make out what sex but not your average burb kids. PInk haired Twink, Tatted bearded metal studded faces clerks… Joe blows etc….It was so diverse I said….. hey no one is discriminating hiring these folks.
Cam
The founder is a billionaire who donates to Trump. The fact that one store hired somebody with pink hair doesn’t change that.
wolfman6
OK, here’s another closet case buying “wood”. I mean seriously, tell me this guy is not gay. He’s got the voice, he’s got the walk, he’s got the look. GAY! He’s as gay as Matt Gaetz!
paul dorian lord fredine
and much like gaetz i’m betting he has to pay for sex.
Gay Thomas
The least surprising thing about this is Ben Shapiro has very small, very thin wood.
amanwithanedge
he sounds femme. buh bye.

@rural queer socialist: Hey, you need to prepare for the next meeting of your County Commissioners so you can complain about your landfill. If they’re all Republicans, no doubt some of them believe in Jewish space lasers.
(rural queer socialist is possibly like the Holy Roman Empire: neither rural nor queer nor socialist. But of course we have no way of knowing that for sure.)
Cam
@Heywood Jablowme
It’s cute how you bring in one of your troll screenames everybody knows to act really crazy, so you can then take out this one and appear to be reasonable.
But see, you already tried to lie above here when you claimed a boycott wouldn’t matter to the founder of Home Depot, except all his wealth is tied up in Home Depot Stock and he still has influence over the company.
But I’ll give it to you, your troll tactics have slightly improved. I’ll score this one a C+
Heywood Jablowme
@Cam: I have never had any doubt that “rural queer socialist” is YOU.
BaltoSteve
This is hardly surprising. This is the same Ben Shapiro who criticized Georgia O’Keefe paintings for not looking like anything. Which, for me, was a real surprise since he has children with his wife. The man is not the sharpest bulb in the marquee.
Willy
He may not be the “sharpest” (WTF) bulb on the marquee, but he is indeed the brightest.
BaltoSteve
@Willy. It’s a combination of two common colloquialisms (which indicate the same thing about the subject) to double, as it were, the effect. May be a regional thing, which is why you are unfamiliar. And bruh has about as much critical thinking ability as a bunch of rocks. He’s what is known as an educated idiot.
Dijonaise
He has a tight little body, I would hate fu$k him in a second!
rbernard
I will grant you, Ben is not a bad looking man, but he is tormented and is known to be very skittish man.
He frequently makes off the wall homophobic statements.
This often indicates one is likely not too secure with their own sexuality, dealing with their own demons, and over and over we see people like this turn out to be closet cases.
Good luck breaking him in.
Who know, you might bring about a real revelation and help him see the light..
jackmister
Hey Benji, nice moobs.
queerbec
Ben now has more planks than the entire 2020 Republican platform!
Willy
Frankly, I am more ashamed that black leaders are basically saying African Americans are incapable of getting an ID to vote. If one is so stupid they can’t obtain an ID, they really shouldn’t be voting anyway. All Georgia is trying to do is make secure the election process and the results thereof. Why does everything nowadays have to be blown so far out of proportion or be considered racist? This attitude is not unifying or productive.
BaltoSteve
Ahh, looks like you have missed the point as well as the context, so let me help you understand the problem. It is illegal in this country to require ANY person to have to pay to vote. It’s called a poll tax. So, requiring a person to PURCHASE an id in order to be able to vote is in violation of federal law.
Historically, poll taxes have been used to keep the poor and POC from being able to vote in elections. And, given Georgia’s history of gerrymandering and going to great lengths to suppress those voters, a reasonable person would recognize this as yet another attack on those populations.
